My Lost Valley Kashmir

Updated: Feb 28

I was used to the warmth of my mother's lap...

and the melodies of her lullabies...

To the seraphic smiles of faces, in the land of peace...

The heaven on earth, truly at ease...

A child I was yet to comprehend...

What was terror, war or death..

The war cry of demons was just a street play I thought..

But that night turned into  one long dark night...

and my valley drowned into fright...

The souls were shredded to shrieking cries..

And the snow clad robe of my place...

Was forever stained with innocent  red...

I had to leave you O motherland...

To a place far far away...

Never to return back again...

I now can just see you through a glass wall of dreams...

A wall of agony that echoes with our cries...

I know I might never come back as a daughter...

But the day I back there as a visitor...

Do tell me my lost motherland..

That you miss me as dearly as I miss you..

That you weep for me.. like I weep for you..
